Example - Direct Connect

Direct connect can be used when you don't need to pass firewall. This is the case when both host and client computers are within a single LAN, WAN or home network. It can also be used to access home computer from office or access between two computers connected to the Internet through ISP. For simplicity, this example assumes that the connection does not go through the Internet.

First open the host program and set up some users if it is the first time, as shown below:

Next goto General tab, set "SBC Connect Mode" to Disable, check "Enable Direct Connect", set "listen on" to "Socket" and use port 6229. Do not worry about HTTP/Proxy and SBC tabs. Hit "Start" to place the host into "Direct-Ready" status, as shown below:

Now keep the host program running in "Ready" status and goto your client computer. Open client program as shown below:

Hit Direct Connect menuitem from file menu or the toolbar button. It will open Direct Connect dialog. Enter parameters as shown below:

Make sure to use your own host name or the IP address of your host computer.

Optionally you can hit "SocketTest" or "HttpTest" button to make sure connection path is open, as shown below (it does not need userID and password for testing):

Then make sure user information is entered. Those are the user ID and password of the account which was setup in the Users tab of the host program. You should leave domain blank if you are using native user account. Hit connect, it should get connected and show your remote desktop on the client window. Then operate the remote computer as you are sitting in front of the remote computer.
